Kenya: StarTimes Introduces Pay-Per-View Service, Launches App

StarTimes Marketing Director Japhet Akhulia has announced that viewers can now pay for various bouquets ranging from daily, weekly and monthly plans.

Akhulia made said this launch of Kenya’s first mobile TV platform- Startimes App which will enable users to download the app for iOS and Android devices from Apple Store and Google Play Store respectively.

The Marketing Director Said: “There is no introductory price for the app downloads or viewings yet as we are still working on a payment structure that will serve our various market segments. Customers on our platform will get the Nova package for a Sh37 per day fee, a Sh150 charge on a weekly basis and Sh449 for the monthly package.

“We are working on a strategy that will afford our subscribers on the domestic home packages to able to enjoy free access on-the-go via the StarTimes App. All you need to pay for is the regular internet access, and you can directly access our platform anywhere in Kenya.  StarTimes strategy takes the battle for clients straight to its rivals doorstep as it is has acquired rights to the Russia 2018 FIFA world cup. It hopes to use this to increase its customer base.

The Chinese owned Pay-TV Company has announced earlier on that it will offer to viewers, all of the exciting experiences of the 64 matches that will take place at the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup without signal interruption caused by rain, storm or any technical issue.

StarTimes is a leading pay-TV operator in the African continent, serving nearly 10 million subscribers with a signal covering the whole continent and a distribution network of about 200 brand halls, 3,000 convenience stores and over 5,000 distributors. The digital television company also owns a featured content platform, with 480 authorised channels which airs news, sports, entertainment, children’s programs, movies, series, and other contents.
