Nigerian Communications Commission Warns Telcos To Stop Cheating Subscribers
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has directed all service providers in the country to desist from act capable of making communication difficult and unduly expensive for their subscribers.
NCC wants operators like MTN, Globacom, Airtel and 9Mobile, among others, to stop these acts that aid them to cheat the about 150 million active subscribers in Nigeria through services rendered.
This issue was brought up at the weekend, when the NCC held the 37th edition of its Consumer Town Hall Meeting (CTM), at the Epe community, a suburb of Lagos, Nigeria.
Telecommunication services in Nigeria have complained about the poor quality of service from service providers. Their complaints include; airtime and data depletion, unauthorised signs up and auto-renewal, incessant call drops, illegal deductions, unresponsive customer care and poor service quality.
They called on the regulator to do its work as required by the law, to guarantee the money they are spending.
