MultiChoice Africa And ROK Nigeria To Launch Two Channels In April

MultiChoice Africa, a leading entertainment company and ROK, a Nigerian based award-winning film production and entertainment brand will be launching two brand new channels on the DSTV and GOTV platforms on Thursday, 5 April 2018.

The two to-be-launched ROK 2 and ROK 3 channels will join ROK, the studio’s debut channel on DSTV Channel 168. The new channels will bring about the growth of the studio’s linear TV programming with the aim of building a pan-African TV audience on one of Arica’s most widely consumed entertainment platforms that boast of over 12.3 million viewers.

The focus of ROK 2 is to offer to the African audience the high quality traditional albeit tribal Nollywood movies and TV series which will depict the rich culture of the people. It will launch with titles like King of Kings, Throne of Revenge, The Heiress and Mark of the Gods which will be available on  DSTV channel 169 to premium, contact + and family customers. GOTV viewers can also enjoy these contents on GOTV Max, Channel 17 (in all other countries), Channel 117 in Ghana and Channel 317 in Uganda.

ROK 3 will showcase the very best of  Ghanian movies and TV series both in English and Twi languages during the day and will play the finest selection of music from West Africa from 11 pm every night. The channel will also carry with movie titles like Stalemate, Banks Chronicles, Ama Pooley, Black and White, Coach Krakye, Born Again, and Ye Obi Dea Yie. ROK 3 contents can be enjoyed on DSTV Channel 164 for premium, compact+, Family and access customers and GOTV Max and, Channel 18(in all other countries), Channel 118 in Ghana and Channel 138 in Uganda.

The CEO of ROK, Mary Njoku said: “The core of everything ROK does is great storytelling.” She spoke of her delight at the launch of the two new channels to the pay-TV platforms and added that they express passion and intensity behind everything they do to ensure the delivery of thrilling and beautiful entertaining African stories. She promises that they will always bring stories to life with an ever-improving production standard.

Birthing the ROK 2 and ROK 3 will bring about a doubling effect on content production. This is what the company expects as they continue to invest in Scriptwriting, new talent, and production.

The General Manager MultiChoice Nigeria, Martin Mabutho said that they aim to find contents that relate to the consumers as they have realized that the African audience love stories that tell about their home. He added that providing a platform like this for African StoryTellers and local talents are part of their DNA.
