South Africa: Minister Sets Up "War Room" To Ensure Digital Migration By June 2019
South Africa's Minister of Communications, Ms Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane seems to have declared total war on her country lag in the TV digital migration issue and is creating a "war effort" mentality across the process value-chain to ensure that South Africa's digital switch-over is completed by June 2019.
To this end, the Department of Communications (the DoC) says it is leading a renewed project plan enables collaboration with all stakeholders to drive the delivery on universal digital television in South Africa.
Providing a status update report to her country's parliament, Ms Kubayi-Ngubane also indicated that her department was soon going to announce deadline dates for households to register for government-subsidised set-top boxes.
The Minister has particularly appealed to the country's Finance and National Treasury to find creative ways to support her drive to ensure the achievement of the stated goals.
