Status Update On Nigeria's Digital Migration Process... Some Numbers!
Numbers from Nigerian's National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) indicates that the digital broadcasting switchover process is going as slow as as one can possibly imagined.
According to the Director General of NBC, Mallam Issaq Modibo Kawu, Nigeria has organised the import of a total of 745,480 digital set-top boxes (STBs) out of which almost 570,000 have been delivered with just over half of those distributed and activated in Abuja and Lagos Nigeria.
For a country of more that 16 million TV households, this hardly count as achieveing success!
Kawu also informed the industry press that although the country missed the last self-imposed switchover deadline, it is now not going to set itself another time limit, but work assiduously to ensure that nation is migrated swiftly from analogue to digital broadcasting.
