DStv Promises To Stop 'Misleading' Ads On BoxOffice Channel In South Africa
DStv has pledged to desist from showing 'misleading ads' on its BoxOffice channel. This undertaking was given to the South Africa's Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) following a string of public complaints about some of their commercial ads being misleading to the public.
The DStv BoxOffice channel was accused of showing ads that are designed to lead the public to believe the content is available on the DStv platform when in most cases they are not.
Although DStv, in a statement said the commercial ads in question are supposed to promote 'the kinds of content consumers can expect' from them; they have also now conceded to the Advertising Standards Authority of South Africa, and have promised to do more to make sure the ads do not mislead the public.
