Vodacom SA To Launch Own Video-On-Demand (VOD) Service

Vodacom South Africa, the country's leading mobile operator, has announced that it is looking to go into the rapidly congesting Africa's VOD service.

According to the company's Group CEO Mr Shameel Joosub, the service, which they are calling "Vodacom on Demand" will become available early in the new year. He also said that the launch would be will be part of Vodacom's strategy "to improve our reasons to consume data".

The "Vodacom on Demand" service which is in collaboration with DSTV's Showmax does feature both transactional and subscription on-demand content, with additional access to traditional TV channels.

The company has said that users will be charged via their Vodacom's bill, making it easy for them to manage their data and On Demand account in one place.
