'Rattlesnake: the Ahanna Story' Joins Netflix Catalogue
'Rattlesnake: the Ahanna Story' joins the increasing list of Nollywood titles on subscription-driven streaming service Netflix. The movie by Award-winning movie producer Charles Okpaleke's Play Network Studios is about Ahanna Okolo choosing to steal his always desired life.
Ramsey Nouah directs the update, licensed for international release according to Okpaleke. Nouah adds new twists to the original classic by Amaka Igwe, which tells the narrative of Ahanna, a young man who becomes involved in criminal activity after his uncle and mother's betrayal. He sets up a gang of multi-talented criminals called The Armandas, and they thrive until they no longer can.
The relaunch premiered in November 2020, a few months after the Covid-19 lockdown was lifted. Despite the pandemic, the picture is said to have made US$ 412 081 at the box office. The film stars Stan Nze, Bucci Franklin, Osas Ighodaro, Tobi Bakre, Odera Adimorah, Emeka Nwagbaraocha, Brutus Richards, and Nollywood veterans Chinyere Wilfred, Chiwetelu Agu, Ejike Asiegbu, Nobert Young, Gloria Young, and Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde.
According to executive producer, Okpaleke, "Movie-making has made the list of his "few favourite things", continuing to provide Nigerians with high-quality films. He adds that even with challenges in pre-production, principal photography and post-production methods to make it work are found. The profession's benefit is that" it allows creatives and enterprises to export their brands to the rest of the world", showcasing the work of amazing actors, writers, producers, directors, DOPs and so on available in the country.
Following the release of its multi-award-winning 'Living In Bondage: Breaking Free,' this will be Play Network's second film on the streaming service.
