Video: 'Reviving Archival Content For Current Audience Is Key' Says Johan Oomen, Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision
During the recent #PreserveAfricaArchive online forum presented by Broadcast Media Africa (BMA) and Apricity Consulting, Johan Oomen, the Head of Research and Heritage Services at the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision, presented 'Value Creation Through Digitisation'.
During the presentation, he advised institutions to tailor-make their archival materials based on the target audience. In his presentation, Oomen shared his organisation's strategy, which directed attention from traditional sharing of archived materials to suit millennial audiences better. He says his organisation decided to create an offering directed to this market, ensuring that archived materials became part of the Millenials information flow. The implementation and monitoring of this strategy have been carried through tracking trends and posting content relating to the trends.
Oomen also noted that institutions should seek to expand their ideas further when strategising to explore various methods that would ensure that they stay relevant in the ever-changing market of digitisation.
