Kenya: SuperSport Debuts 'Rising Champions' Docuseries
Multichoice Kenya has announced the release of a docuseries called 'Rising Champions', which will explore East African athletes, their success, and the secret science behind the consistency in producing competitively strong sportsmen from the region.
The series has been divided into three parts, and it will look closely at the dominance of East African Athletes in long-distance running, which has been steadfast for the past 60 years. The three-part docuseries will also take a closer look at the athletes' cultural, geographical inspirations and the training methods that have made the East African Athletes conquer the world long-distance running. The series is also set to show audiences genetics, diet, and environmental factors that have contributed to East African athletes' global success.
While making the announcement, the Managing Director at Multichoice Kenya, Nancy Matimu, said that Multichoice enjoys celebrating the voices of African stories. Moreover, Multichoice Kenya believes in entertainment to tell Kenyan and international stories using the broad reach of the Multichoice platform to take the stories to the world. Currently, Multichoice has released a documentary about the world marathon champion, Eliud Kipchoge.
SuperSport is also in the process of producing documentaries about Kenyan's most significant role players, such as Jackson Tuwei, the President of Kenya Athletics. Added to the list are the likes of Hellen Obiri, Catherine Ndereba, Paul Tergat, Lornah Kiplagat, Julius Yego Javelin, David Rudisha, and Jimmy Beauta.
