Nigeria: ZUMA Film Festival Call For Entries
The 12th edition of the ZUMA Film Festival (ZUFF) has opened its global call for entries which are running between 2 April to 30 October 2021. As announced by the Nigerian Film Corporation, ZUFF will be held from 1 December to 7 December 2021 in Abuja. The festival has announced this edition's theme as " Show The Money ", highlighting the great investment opportunities available in digital content creation and exhibition.
The annual film festival was established in 2017 and played a critical role in stimulating Nigeria's film industry and economy. According to Dr Chidia Madiekwe, NFC's Managing Director, Chairman and Organising Committee of ZUFF, the 2021 theme was selected to further the conversations on the monetary value in filmmaking in Nigeria and the much-needed Return-On-Investment (ROI).
Therefore, the 12th edition of ZUFF will highlight the digital platforms' opportunities for developing, marketing, and distributing content at a minimal cost but with a massive ROI as the key objective. ZUFF 2021 will also provide a platform for recognising Nigerian filmmakers who add value to the development of the art and its business side, Madiekwe added.
NFC's Head of Public Affairs, Brian Etuk, stated in Jos, Plateau State that the ZUMA Film Festival 2021 will, as in the past, provide a physical and virtual opportunity of attendance. This will increase international filmmakers' participation, including funders, producers, marketers, film distribution companies who wish to capitalise in the digital content creation growth, distribution and investment in Nigeria.
