Multichoice Signs Fugitive As Their Exclusive Distributor For South African Drama Originals
As reported by industry sources, the South African company that operates the DStv, GOtv, and Showmax service, Multichoice, has entered into an exclusive partnership with Fugitive.
The deal appoints Fugitive as Multichoice’s exclusive distributor for premium, scripted originals made available on its M-Net channel and Showmax Streaming Video-On-Demand (SVoD) platform. The new partnership has set off immediately with Fugitive launching new drama series’s, Lioness, Dam and Legacy, into the international market in time for MIPTV.
Additionally, Fugitive will be working closely with the Multichoice team to ensure the expansion of Originals slate on future productions and pre-sales from the international marketplace for titles are secured.
According to a statement shared with the media, Fugitive’s founder, Anthony Kimble, believes that South Africa’s rapid growth in producing world-class original drama is a phenomenon that the world should look out for. Kimble further said, Multichoice is a leader in the field; therefore, Fugitive is delighted to have partnered with the pay-tv operator in taking M-Net and Showmax titles to international audiences.
As reported, the Director of Content Sales and Distribution at Multichoice, Mauro Black, said, Multichoice is excited to announce the new partnership with Fugitive. Black further said Multichoice is confident that Kimble knows the South African creative community. He has a terrific appreciation of the series’ Multichoice produces and fully supports the Originals strategy. Adding his extensive international development, co-productions and sales experience into this partnership, we hope to build up our rapidly expanding slate with both global partners and audiences in mind.
Multichoice is projected to deliver a further nine Originals in its 2021-22 financial year, with more Originals planned for 2022-23.
