According to press reports, the BBC's Radio 1Xtra has launched a weekly curated content programme to celebrate African music and culture. The programme content will range from live performances, special interviews, brand new mixes, and takeovers from all parts of the continent.  It has been reported that Africa 360 platform will update compilations every Monday on the BBC Sounds platform.

Furthermore, leading artists and DJs will be invited weekly to curate a playlist from their country. A statement by the Head of 1Xtra, Faron McKenzie, read, "1Xtra has always been at the forefront of championing the African music scene, and it's important we continue to do so, not only by supporting current artists but by investing in the next generation of African artists,".

Exclusive mixes will be available on BBC Sound from 25 March. Featured will be amapiano and afro-house by various DJs such as Maphorisa, Major League DJz, DBN Gogo and many more. Also included on 25 March is Davido, who will be performing on the Live Lounge during Yasmin Evans and Ace's show. Davido's performance will be available to watch later on 1Xtra's YouTube Channel and BBC iPlayer.

Our sources reported DJ Remi Burgz saying during Africa 360 debut on 21 March, "Africa 360 signifies a growing appreciation of African music in the UK. Further, it shows its growth and influence worldwide".
