BritBox Appoints Reemah Sakaan As New International Chief Exec
BritBox, the UK-based streaming platform backed by a 50/50 joint venture between BBC Studios and ITV, has announced it is appointed Ms Reemah Sakaan as its international chief executive officer (CEO). She will start in the new role in April 2021.
Ms Sakaan is presently the Group Director at ITV (UK) SVOD. As a result of the appointment, she will be responsible for overseeing and managing the aggressive market roll-out of the BritBox platform across twenty-five countries globally. BritBox recently announced it's entry into Africa by launching the streaming in South Africa.
Commenting on the appointment, Carolyn McCall, the chief executive office at ITV (UK), said: I am really pleased that Reemah will lead BritBox internationally. The role attracted a very impressive field of external candidates which reflects the strength and appeal of the BritBox brand. Reemah was deservedly successful".
Speaking on her new role, MsSakaan said: "I can't wait for our next exciting phase of growth in existing markets and to put BritBox and the best of British creativity on the map in many more." BritBox, launched in 2017 as an ad-free subscription video-on-demand streaming service, has registered a measured success in North America and Europe and now seeks to extend to markets across the world.
