Sixth Edition Of "Nigerian Idol" Return To Multichoice's DStv And Showmax Platform
"Nigerian Idol", the formatted musical show from Multichoice Nigeria, will be coming back for the sixth edition in 2021. Announcing a virtual media conferences on Thursday 18th February, Multichoice Nigeria says it will start programming around the Nigerian Idol sixth edition on 14th March 2021.
According to the company, on 14th March 202, it will present programming around the "most impressive and entertaining moment from last year's auditions", and then from 28th March, it will present the main episodes of the Nigerian Idol weekly. The show will be going on the DStv African Magic Showcase, Family and Urban channels. It is also expected to stream on Showmax, where it would be accessible to global audiences across 25 countries.
Multichoice Nigeria's Chief Customer Officer, Mr Martin Mabutho, commented on the upcoming show: "This season of Nigerian idols is like never before. We have put together a show that shows we are on top of the game. The 'Nigerian Idol' show is famous for creating superstars, which will be even bigger this season.
Ms Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu, Channel Director for Africa Magic Channels, confirmed that her organisation received over 3600 entries from potential candidates to participate in the show. She also reassured the public that her company would be ensuring adherence to the strictest protocols and guidelines stipulated by the NCDC to curb COVID-19 during the show's production.
