African Movie Channel Heads Back To UK With 'Freeview Digital' Listing - Reports
The African Movie Channel (AMC) - broadcaster of Nigerian Nollywood programming - announced it has launched (or re-launched) its flagship African Movie Channel into the United Kingdom, this time listing of the 'Freeview' digital terrestrial TV platform.
As AMC debuts on Freeview Channel 271, assessable through connected Freeview Channelbox and digital TV-sets, it is now reported that AMC would be the very first Nollywood channel to be distributed on the Freeview platform.
Commenting on the feat, the founding director of AMC, Mr Yinka Mayungbo, said: "We launched the first-ever Nollywood channel in Europe in 2006. Fourteen years later, we are back – in time for Lockdown 3! Here's wishing our audience in Blighty good cheer, and a brilliant time watching their favourite Nollywood stars on AMC."
Also commenting on the collaboration that brought the Nollywood channel into Freeview reaching up to 13 million households in the UK, Tanya Kronfli, Channelbox business development director, said: "We are beyond excited to be the first TV platform in the UK to host African Movie Channel and deliver premium Nollywood content to UK audiences."
The African Movie Channel is a premium 24-hour premium television channel that produces and broadcast original Nollywood shows and movies. It also has the 'AMC Series' that offers more African movies, including some talk and magazine shows.
