Programming | MNET Expands Format Franchise With "The Real Housewives Of Durban"
M-Net's franchise of the NBC Universal reality TV format "Real Housewives" is set to be further extended by the Multichoice company with the introduction of the "Real Housewives of Durban, which is set to debut on the 1Magic channel from the 19th of January 2021.
Produced for M-Net by Let It Rain Films, the first season of the show will contain 14 episodes with "six feisty women" that will engage in the exhibition of lavish consumption, larger-than-live lifestyles and dramatic relationship with each other as well as others within their orbit.
"The Real Housewives of Durban" is coming on the heels of "The Real Housewives of Johannesburg" which ran for two seasons from August 2018. According to 1Magic channel management, "The Real Housewives of Durban with the new cast is now moving to the KZN coast to show viewers "the lavish lifestyle of the Durban wives".
Also commenting on the reality show, Nomsa Philiso, director of local entertainment channels at M-Net said that: "Reality TV has become our most followed genre, not only because it gives viewers authenticity and entertainment, but resonates with their lived experiences as it gives them a glance into a world in which they aspire to live one day."
