BBC World Service Looking For Podcast Talents In Nigeria, South Africa And Kenya
The World Service of the BBC has launched a new competition to discover new podcast talents in Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa. The BBC said the competition winner would have the opportunity to work alongside its "world-class" crew for a podcast.
The BBC World Service podcast competition kicked off on 5th January 2021 and is expected to close on 22nd January 2021. And it is confirmed that the prize on offer is a tie-up with a BBC Production team and the full backing of the BBC World Service to produce the winning idea "into a BBC World Service podcast".
Reporting by Pulse.ng quoted Jon Manel, the podcast commissioning editor for the BBC World Service who said that the initiative is an "opportunity for people with great ideas to turn them into fantastic podcast content."
Manel commented: "This is an opportunity for people. If you have been sitting on an idea for an amazing podcast; I think we've all done it, we've all had great ideas and think about it and dream about it and not doing anything about it, largely because we don't have the opportunity. What I would say if you have this incredible story for whatever podcast it might be, it's so easy to enter this competition."
"All we are asking for is for an idea which appeals to listeners in Africa and listeners around the world in particular to women, and if you put your idea in this competition, you will have the opportunity hopefully to win it and actually to make that podcast," Manel said.
