News Central TV Officially Launched On 01 Jan To Widespread Congratulatory Messages
The African Development Bank (AfDB) president, Mr Akinwunmi Adesina, was among dignitaries and celebrities who have congratulated Nigeria's News Central TV on its official launch.
News Central TV is set to be the pan-African news platform that will bring "news stories with factual content and "real shared experiences" to its audience. According to the promoters of this platform, the TV station's stories will include politics, nature, sports, eco-diversity, lifestyle, business, and sports.
A spokesperson from News Central TV management said: "the mission is to bring Africa to the world, by telling the true African story from an African perspective, using diversity, creativity and technology. To maintain the status of a medium of trust, we have invested significantly in our network, sources and talent pool. With a base in the heart of Lagos, Nigeria's commercial capital, our state-of-the-art facility is a hub for its creative and media business ecosystem."
The spokesperson added that "News Central has embraced Africa and Africans' diversity to represent the dreams, aspirations, spirit, colours, and humanity of the people of the continent. That team comprises dynamic and multi-talented individuals with shared values and vision for professionalism in broadcast journalism and media entrepreneurship.
According to news reporting, other dignitaries joining Mr Adesina to congratulate the new TV outfit included Tony Elumelu, Chairman of Heirs Holdings; Ibukun Awosika, Chairman, First Bank Nigeria, Sahar Nasr, Egypt's Minister of Investment and International Cooperation, David Makhura, Premier of Gauteng, South Africa and Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, South Africa's Minister of Planning Monitoring and Evaluation.
