TV Content: South Africa's Version Of US 'Shark Tank' Confirmed For Season 2
Shark Tank, the reality business show where investors (sharks) seek to invest into potentially viable businesses, is making a return to the South African airwaves, having been confirmed for a second season. According to reporting by TV With Thinus - a South Africa TV blog website - the licensing rights to the second season of Shark Tank South Africa has been acquired by the Beryl Group.
We recall that Season One of the show was flighted in 2016 by M-Net and produced by Rapid Blue. However, the announced second season seems to be still looking for a TV channel home, but the production will be undertaken by professional from within the Beryl Group, BMA understands.
To this end, the producers are already lining up the group of sharks that would feature in the new series, and Quinton van der Burgh, the South Africa billionaire, is expected to be one of the rampaging investors looking to back potentially successful businesses of all sorts. Other investors (sharks) that have been lined up for the Shark Tank SA Season 2 are Lebo Gunguluza (chairman of the Gem group of companies), Prashanthi Akaloo (a technology entrepreneur) and Dr Jasmine Pega (versatile entrepreneur)
It is reported that filming for the new series will commence early next year in Johannesburg, South Africa and according to Neverl Kambasha, chairman of the Beryl Group, "The possibilities of unearthing innovation, creativity and uncovering the 'next big thing' are endless hence we deemed it necessary to further invest in entrepreneurship. We look forward to seeing potential unleashed."
