Video On-Demand: Top Players To Reach Just Under 700 Million Subs By 2025
Recent research by Digital TV Research revealed that the top five US-based over the top OTT streaming platforms would collectively reach 678 million subscribers by the end of 2025. The leading streaming providers referenced are Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV+ and HBO Max.
According to the report, Netflix will maintain its position at the top of the leader board with just over 270 million subs by 2025, and it would be followed by the Disney+ streaming service that would notch-up 194 million subs by the same period. According to Simon Murray, the principal analyst at Digital TV Research, “The US and India will account for nearly half of Disney+’ subscriber base by 2025.”
The HBO Max streamer that was launched last may is projected to reach just over 16 million subscribers by 2025 while Apple TV+ will also grow from it current 2 million subs to just under 13million by the same period.
