"King Of Joburg", A Netflix Series Goes On General Release In December 2020
Netflix has announced the date of December 4 for the general release of its latest African original show, the South Africa based series "King of Joburg". Produced by the South African company Ferguson Films, "King of Joburg" is billed as a mini-series with six episodes.
Set in the "concrete jungle" of Johannesburg urban area, the crime drama show, according to a Netflix statement, will enthral "audiences with its gritty setting, dark fantasy, and complex characters".
The storyline in "Kings of Joburg" series follows the 'Masire brothers' and how they deal with a supernatural family curse and a spurned web of betrayals that continually threatens to destroy them.
Ferguson, the series producer, expressed his delightfulness with the opportunity to work with Netflix on the programme. Speaking his thoughts on the show, Ferguson said: "When I created Kings of Joburg I wanted to root the show in elements of love, family, conflict, and power. The premise of the series is centred around the question, 'Am I my brother's keeper?' The series blends action and drama with the African occult."
