Multichoice SuperSport Gets Broadcast Right To Ethiopian League Matches

Broadcast rights to the Ethiopian Premier League have been acquired by SuperSport - the sports broadcasting arm of the Pay-Tv giant, SuperSport. The league, which is Ethiopia's top association football division with sixteen teams will see its matches carried by SuperSport across sub-Saharan Africa.
Chief Executive of Multichoice Group, Mr Calvo Mawela acknowledges the importance of sports broadcasting as a critical business driver for his organisation, commenting on the Ethiopian football deal that: "Sport is an integral part of our content offering and supporting the development of sports content makes sense for our business. This partnership will give the Ethiopian Premier League greater visibility, attracting fans from across the continent."
The Multichoice Group chief added: "This is an important agreement for MCG, one which affirms our commitment to investing in Ethiopia and across Africa. By continuing to invest in local markets across Africa, we intend to create lasting value for local industries.
The Ethiopian Premier League chairman, Mr Fekade Mamo, also commented on the agreement, saying: "We recognise the importance of having the right partners on board to contribute in growing our league and cultivate local talent. This is a significant step forward for the league, and will create a brighter future for players, the industry, and bring Ethiopian football closer to the world."
