South Africa: Cinema Chain Ster-Kinekor Theatres Appoints Acting CEO
In preparedness for the imminent departure of Mr Ryan Williams, the erstwhile Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the South African cinema chain Ster-Kinekor Theatres, the company has announced the appointment of Motheo Matsau as its new acting CEO.
Matsau has been the company deputy CEO since September 2019 and is due to step into the chief exec role from 1st November 2020. On his appointment, Matsau expressed his gratitude for the confidence accorded the organisation's board and Chairman. He said "I look forward to the challenge and am certain that working with Andrew and our superb management team we will continue to grow our business after the impact of COVID-19 has passed,"
On his leaving note, Ryan Williams (who is said to be returning to Australia) said: "I am very grateful to Chairman, the board and my Ster-Kinekor family for the fantastic journey over the past couple of years. I do not doubt that Ster-Kinekor, under Matsau leadership, will remain a formidable and favourite South African brand long into the future,"
Ster-Kinekor's Executive Chairman, Mr Andrew Marshall, thanked Williams for "adding significant value to Ster-Kinekor over his two-year term. His extensive experience in the world of media and content and his tremendous understanding of the cinema business has been invaluable, and we are delighted to still have access to Ryan's expertise during this transition period,"
