42nd Edition Of Cairo International Film Festival To Take Place 2nd - 10th December

Organisers of the Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) have announced that the 42nd edition of the festival will now take place from the 2nd - 10th December with the 'Cairo Industry Day' happening on the 4th - 7th and the 'Cairo Film Connection' on the 5th - 7th December.
 
According to a press statement from the organisers, "The team of Cairo International Film Festival is thrilled and eager to present an outstanding program of distinguished films at the 42nd edition at a time when the industry struggles for survival, hope and resistance against the difficult conditions imposed by the coronavirus all over the world."
 
Mohamed Hefzy, the president of the Cairo International Film Festival while thankful to Egypt authorities for ensuring a safe environment for activities to take place, also stressed the commitment of the organisers to maintaining the "highest health and safety standards".
 
Providing more details on how the organisers are ensuring a stringent covid-secure environment, Omar Kassem, the CIFF's Executive Director, said: "there will be strict enforcement of preventative measures like social distancing, and wearing a face mask inside the ground of the festival facilities." He also commented that "there would be sterilisation of all venues immediately after screenings, plus regular temperature checks and follow-ups done daily for all festival workers and guests. Also, the opening and closing ceremonies will happen outdoors."
