Netflix Announces New Slates Of Original Films Out Of Nigeria
Netflix plans to ramp up its offering for local content in Africa went up another notch as it announces that it has commissioned a slew of original films and series and signed new deals with producers and distributors from the country.
Dorothy Ghettuba, the lead for African originals at Netflix is reported to have commented that "Netflix is proud to continue to invest in more original content from Nigeria. We're also thrilled to grow our existing creative partnerships while forming new ones".
It has been reported that some of the original content signed by Netflix includes Kunle Afolayan's Citation, King of Boys 2, as well as Mo Abudu's "ÒlòtÅ«ré" and "Far From Home". Ghettuba also remarked that "some of the films and series are at different stages of production while others were ready to premiere".
