Multichoice Showmax In Co-Productions For Quality African-Originated Content
Streaming platform Showmax (part of PayTV company - Multichoice) has announced two new international co-productions of African content, one of which is "Rogue" an all-action packed movie (starring Megan Fox), and the other is "Blood Psalms" the African mythology series. It will be recalled that last year, Multichoice also entered into co-production with HBO for "Trackers" which according to some reports, outperformed the Games of Thrones in the South African market.
"Rogue", which is scheduled to premiere on DStv Box Office on 11 September 2020 is about Megan Fox playing action hero Samantha O'Hara, who leads a team of tough mercenaries to rescue a group of school girls kidnap and held in a Lion farm somewhere in Africa.
"Blood Psalms" is co-produced with Canal+ International and it has been described as legendary. It is a show about the rise to power of Zazi, a teenager who will do numerous heroic battle to save her people from warring tribes and the "wrath of the Gods".
Commenting of the drive to co-produce these quality African originated content, Yolisa Phahle, CEO of General Entertainment for MultiChoice said: "This is a conscious move on our part to ramp up investment in African content. This is just the start of bringing the Africa we know and love to the rest of the world."
