South Africa: TNT Is First Among A Sea Of Film Viewership Decline
In June, movie viewing ratings in South Africa saw a decline of 11 per cent. And even so, the TNT channel was reportedly ranked number one above other movie and films channels in South Africa.
TNT, a specialist channel for Hollywood blockbusters reported a 22 per cent increase in its viewership, and the company said this was driven by some super performances from its stable items.
A statement from TNT says that aside from dominating over 50 other competitive films, it also collected high numbers in the month of May, with one of its movies registering one million viewers on its viewer tracking dial!
Audience profile wise, TNT has been long seen a male-oriented platform. Still, the company behind the TV channel says it is experiencing a growth in the number of female viewership, which, according to them, is now about 51 per cent of its regular audience. It also saw strong participation in the 15-49 age bracket.
