ViacomCBS Network International Streaming Platform Will Not Come To Africa When Launched

As ViacomCBS Network International (VCNI) is set to join the global streaming war that already has Apple TV+, Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, Disney+ and Showmax all battling it out, it is being reported that VCNI has no immediate plans to allow African subscribers on the platform when it is released early 2021.

According to the investor presentation made by VCNI, the release plan for its yet unnamed streaming platform will only cover, outside North America, selected Latin America and European countries. Experts think the reluctance by VCNI to launch its video streaming platform direct to Africa might be because it is obliged to respect and fulfil it's existing distribution deals with TV houses across the continent.

On the forthcoming video streaming platform, VCNI's president for streaming services, Pierluigi Gazzolo, said: "Our global video streamer will target "audiences of all ages with a competitively priced and super-sized selection of 'must-see' exclusives, premieres and box sets from ViacomCBS' much-loved entertainment brands".
