Ghana: Education Via Television Gains Traction Amid COVID-19
As the coronavirus pandemic has foisted a new-normal of most of society, the demand for student education via the TV platform is gaining considerable credence in Ghana.
Reporting from the West African country indicates that free-to-air educational television channels are fast becoming a crucial resource for high school students. Spearheading the initiative is Joy Learning, a not-for-profit television outfit that is dedicated to offering solely Ghanaian educational content.
According to Abdulai Awudu, General Manager for Joy Learning, the platform has proven to be a ‘vital’ resource for learning, and even though the channel was initially set-up to assist Ghana’s SHS students, it has also proven useful to students across English speaking West Africa. Joy Learning says in Ghana, it reaches 97% of all satellite TV homes.
