Ethiopia: ECA Received 12 Separate Submissions For Two New Telco Licenses

The Ethiopian Communications Commission (ECA) has announced that it has received 12 distinct submissions of Expression of Interest (EoI) in the two full-service telecommunication licenses in Ethiopia deadline date of 22nd June.
 
According to the ECA, nine of the submissions were from telecom companies. These are: The Global Partnership for Ethiopia (a consortium of telecom operators made of Vodafone, Vodacom, and Safaricom), Etisalat, Axian, MTN, Orange, Saudi Telecom Company, Telkom SA, Liquid Telecom, Snail Mobile. There were other two non-telcos and one incomplete submission.
 
The ECA while thanking all the potential bidders that expressed interest says it is now preparing to move forward to the next stage of the process and will keep all participants informed and engaged. The organisation reassured stakeholders that it is fully committed to fulfilling the telecommunications reforms for Ethiopia and enhance its digital transformation.
