Netflix Signs Original Content Deal With Nigerian Producer, Mo Abudu

Seasoned Nigerian producer - Ms Mo Abudu - has announced she has a content production deal with the mega streaming platform Netflix. As part of their agreement, Mo Abudu is set to produce for Netflix the adaptation of the classic novel "Death and the King's Horsemen". The book was penned by Nigeria's literature's Nobel laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka.
 
Ms Abudu has also agreed to produce an adaptation of Secret Lives of Baba Segi's Wives and two other yet to be names originals. According to sources close to this deal, Netflix will pay hundreds of thousands of US dollars to get these productions moving, and have signalled more investment in quality Nollywood content.
 
Netflix's first significant foray in Nollywood content was with the original movie, Lionheart - which has gone on to acquire rave reviews.
 
The deal between Ms Abudu and Netflix has not gone unnoticed by the Nigeria authorities who have sent congratulatory messages to both parties and hoped that their partnership would bring forth deeper relationships between Nigerian creatives and streaming platforms.
