Former SABC COO Chris Maroleng Challenges His Dismissal In Court
Mr Chris Maroleng, the former Chief Operation Officer (COO) of the Southern Africa Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) is challenging his axing from the corporation in court.
According to SABC press report, the court papers filed by Mr Maroleng claimed that his dismissal from the SABC was unlawful - as he was not allowed his ‘right’ to appeal against what he concluded was a summary dismissal allegedly plotted by SABC Chairman Mr Bongumusa Makhathini and CEO, Mr Madoda Mxakwe.
Regarding the legal challenge, The SABC said it is yet to receive a summons nor any related papers from the court. In a statement, SABC’s spokesman MrMmoni Sephalo stated: “The SABC can confirm that the corporation is not in receipt of any court papers relating to Mr Maroleng’s intention to sue the organisation.
SABC did say that Mr Maeoleng was dismissed in 2019 after a disciplinary process found him in breach of his fiduciary duties to the organisation.
