Audience Measurement Task-Team Instituted For Nigeria Broadcast Media Industry

The Nigerian government has launched a task-team that will set up the policy framework for "an objective and scientific audience measurement system in Nigeria."
According to the country's Minister of Information, Mr Lai Mohammed, the audience measurement system will help "demonstrate the value od content to advertisers, consumers and broadcast stakeholders".
The Minister lamented that Nigeria has three times the population of South Africa, but only a mere 25% of the advertising revenue the media industry in South Africa gets every year.
Nigeria's audience measurement system as it is presently is not working, and something needs to be done about if the vast potential of the country's audio-visual industry in the country is to be realised.
Garba Kankarofi is the chair of the task team. Other members are Mr Joe Mutah, Mr Obi Asika, Hajiya Sa'a Ibrahim, Mr Mahmoud Ali Balogun, Mrs Pauline Ehusani and Mr Tolu Ogunkoya. They will have six weeks to report and make their recommendations.
