ZAMBIA: ZICTA Gives Away Additional Spectrum To Telcos
The Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority (ZICTA) is offering additional spectrum to its telcos at no cost in aid of boosting the efficiency of the country's internet services and soften the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic.
The immediate beneficiaries of this spectrum largesse are MTN Zambia, Zamtel and Airtel Zambia. According to ZICTA press office, the free spectrum should enable users across the country to access high-speed internet more quickly and at little or low-cost.
In these dire times with Covid-19 rampaging, there is the need for high-speed connections for e-learning services and other essential services that depends on reliable and faster connectivity to the web. ZICTA hopes that with this gesture of free access to spectrum by telcos, they can offer minimum internet speed of 10mbps.
