SABC Shutters Durban Office For Coronavirus Related Deep-Cleaning
The South Africa Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has said it is shuttering its Durban provisional office to allow for a deep-clean and to ensure it remains a safe place for staff to work without fear of Covid-19 infection.
The deep-clean is triggered because a staff member stationed in the Durban office is currently under quarantine alongside colleagues due after showing what is suspected to be Covid-19 symptoms, says Mmoni Seapolelo, SABC spokesperson
The SABC is reported to have recorded five (5) members of staff testing positive to the virulent infection.
The shuttering of the Durban provisional office means that stations such as Lotus FM and UKhozi FM will now be required to broadcast entirely from the outside broadcast (OB) vans. The SABC spokesperson said they expect the office to resume normal operations on June 1.
