Nigerian Content Producer Accuses UK's Sky TV Of Copyright Infringement
A Nigerian television production firm - Sate Television - is reportedly seeking One million pounds sterling from UK's Sky TV for allegedly infringing the copyright of its Urban Kitchen programme.
Sate's lawyers, Remedium Law Partners, are also seeking an additional five hundred thousand pounds sterling (£500,000) from Hi-impact TV to compensate for alleged "fraudulent broadcasting" and other copyright violations.
Sate Television and its legal representative have also put out a cease and desist notice to Sky UK and its affiliate to stop showing Urban Kitchen on its platform until a valid and binding agreement is in place and all payment due made.
On its part, Hi-impact TV has said it was surprised with the accusation, indicating that it has the rights for the programme that they allegedly have duly acquired from EIC Communications in Nigeria.
