Nigeria: ATCON Hails State Governments For Fast-Track Broadband Infrastructure Access
In Nigeria, the Association of Telecommunication Companies of Nigeria (ATCON) has praised the government of Ekiti and Imo states of the Nigerian federation for revising the right-of-way rates charge for the deployment of broadband infrastructure in the respective jurisdictions.
ATCON's president, Mr Olusola Teniola, thanked the state governors for moving to confirm that they appreciate the impact that ICT infrastructure has as a tool for social-economic development.
Reducing the right-of-way fees will enable faster deployment of broadband services and unlock the potential for a vast array of digital services and tremendously increase broadband penetration within the populace.
ATCON believes that the multiplying effect on private and public sectors services will be visible in short order.
