Kaya FM Comes Out Victorious At The 10th South African Radio Awards

On 17 April 2020, members of South Africa’s radio fraternity tuned in from different parts of the country to celebrate outstanding achievements in South African radio broadcasting. Now in its 10th year, the highly prestigious South African Radio Awards were held virtually for the first time ever because of the nationwide COVID-19 lockdown.

It was a triumphant event for the Home of the Afropolitan, as Kaya FM was announced as the Commercial Station of the Year – an award the station had taken home previously in 2017 and 2019. With no less than 24 nominations, the station came up on top in various categories including Best Station Imaging as well as Best Promotion and Stunt Event.

The list of winners included radio veterans and also rising talent, a testament to the excellent calibre of people who make up the core of Kaya FM and who are crucial in the station’s commitment to shift South Africa’s cultural needle.

Some of the awards won by Kaya FM include Commercial Station of the Year, Best News and Actuality Show, Best Field Reporter and Best Podcast.

Kaya FM’s Managing Director, Greg Maloka said that Kaya FM’s win was not just a win for the radio station but for the total contribution of the radio broadcasting industry at large in serving the country while under lockdown.

Maloka congratulated all the individual winners and the entire team behind the Kaya FM brand.
