South Africa: Merlin Naicker Appointed As Head Of SABC TV

The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has announced that it has appointed Merlin Naicker as the new Group Executive of SABC TV.
His appointment kicked off on the 1st of April 2020.

Naicker’s professional background is made up of a series of successful milestones in his 25-year journey that is backed by solid qualifications including a BSC Hons – Digital Technology, Design & Innovation (DIT), a Certificate in Advanced Broadcast Law (Wits Law) and an MBA from Oxford Brookes.

One of the key highlights of his career includes delivering media solutions for the broadcast of the 2018 FIFA Russia games, implementation of broadcast schedule solutions for different companies, SABC CCTV monitoring and biometric access projects, as well as Parliament TV broadcasts and infrastructure upgrades.

A spokesman from the SABC said that the national broadcaster is thrilled to welcome Merlin on board as he is passionate about media and the effect of media on the African continent.

Merlin has been in the media field since 1994, and his experience spans across many digital platforms from being the CEO of Wizard Media Consulting, the Head of Satellite Television for Telkom Media and the Chief Content Officer for Southtel VOD, he has also worked in various strategic positions at MultiChoice.
