StarTimes Nigeria Rolls Out 1 Month Free Viewing For Local Channels
StarTimes Nigeria has rolled out a one month ‘free to view’ campaign for four local TV stations on its platform for both active and non-active subscribers.
The local TV stations include Africa Independent Television (AIT), Nigeria Television Authority (NTA); Channels Television and Silverbird News 24.
The pay-TV operator also announced the launch of the country’s leading entertainment station, Ebony Life TV on all of its bouquets.
The company said that the free viewing on some of the local stations is to ensure accurate and up-to-date information for its subscribers on concerns that are related to the global coronavirus pandemic while the launch of Ebony Life is to boost the platform’s entertaining content for its subscribers who are compelled to stay home at the nation’s efforts towards managing the pandemic.
David Zhang, the CEO of StarTimes Nigeria, noted that aligning with the instruction from the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), the new one-month free viewing offering on the local stations would have the stations running even after subscribers had exhausted their subscriptions.
He also noted that this arrangement could be further reviewed pending the issuance of further directives by the NBC.
