Facebook Appoints New Director For Africa And Middle East
Derya MatraÅÿ has been named as the Regional Director of Facebook in Africa, the Middle East and Turkey.
In a statement, the social media giant said that in this role, MatraÅÿ would lead Facebook to serve communities and businesses, and also grow the company’s social and economic impact across the region.
Facebook’s Vice President for Europe and Middle East Africa, Nicola Mendelsohn said that the fast-growing Turkey and Middle East Africa region is a crucial market for Facebook.
According to Facebook, Derya MatraÅÿ spent most of her career working in emerging markets and is the former Country Director for Facebook’s Turkey operations.
Before joining Facebook, she was the Vice President of the Dogan Media Group, the leading media entity in Turkey.
Commenting on her new appointment, MatraÅÿ said that she is honoured to lead this region for Facebook where the global social media company can realise its goals of creating unique experiences that improve people’s lives and support millions of businesses.
She added that as a woman leader, she is proud to be appointed to lead the very region where diversity is of such high importance.
