Nigeria To Explore ICT Growth Opportunities At ITU Telecom World 2019
A delegation of executives from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) will be attending the forthcoming International Telecom Union (ITU) Telecom World 2019 in Budapest, Hungary.
The Nigerian delegation which will be led by Dr Isa Ali Pantami, Nigeria’s Minister of Communications, is set to explore various growth opportunities for the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) industry which is already playing a critical transformative role in Nigeria’s economy.
The ITU Telecom World is an annual gathering for corporations, governments and other enterprises that are focused on communication technology where high-level networking, debate, as well as the showcasing of the latest innovations takes place.
This year’s summit theme, “Innovation together: Connectivity that matters”, is in line with the NCC’s 8-Point Agenda, which focuses on promoting ICT innovation and investment opportunities.
The theme also presents an opportunity for the NCC team and the rest of that Nigerian delegation to engage in meetings, panel discussions and valuable interactions with top global ICT industry players and policymakers.
These interactions will help the delegation explore opportunities for increasing foreign direct investment (FDI) in the telecoms sector with the intention to deepen President Muhammadu Buhari’s digital transformation agenda, which aims to use telecoms and ICT to facilitate economic development and growth in Nigeria.
