GBC And Ghana Athletics Association Secure IAAF World Championship Broadcast Rights

The Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) and the Ghana Athletics Association (GAA) have signed a deal to broadcast the upcoming 2019 IAAF World Championships in Doha, Qatar starting from September 27 to October 10.

The partnership brings together Ghana’s most prominent TV station and the GAA to create a memorable legacy for these particular championships and athletics as a whole, in Ghana and beyond.

Prof. Francis Dodoo, the President of the GAA, declared that, a national TV station agreeing to collaborate with the GAA to inform Ghana and the rest of the region about what transpires at the Athletics World Championships spoke volumes about GTV Sports +’s understanding of the importance of sport, and athletics, as well as the rapidly growing reputation of Ghana’s athletics. Dodoo added that the GAA is grateful for this collaboration.

On the other hand, the Director-General of the GBC, Ing. Augustus Yamson said that the GBC is excited to collaborate with the GAA as the national broadcaster recognises the critical role of the media in telling the Ghanaian story to the audiences.

George Lomotey, the Channel Manager at GTV Sports+, commented that his Channel’s commitment is in line with the IAAF Productions’ vision on innovation, collaboration, storytelling and engagement. He said that GTV Sports+’s commitment would ensure that all content is enjoyable both new fans and the expert followers.

Ghana’s men and women’s relay teams will be representing the nation at the 2019 World Championships.
