Airtel To Introduce Its Mobile Money Service In Nigeria

Airtel Africa has announced that it will soon be introducing its mobile money business in Nigeria.

The Chief Executive Officer of Airtel, Raghunath Mandava, said that the growth in revenue could be attributed to the double-digit growth across all the telco’s business products in Nigeria and East Africa.

The mobile money and telecoms service provider, operating in 14 countries across Central, East and West Africa, also announced their plan to list their shares on the London Stock Exchange.

Mandava said that the company is currently working on securing the confirmation of a brand name as well as obtaining a license for the mobile payment service. He declared that the business has continued to show momentum and that Airtel is confident of delivering substantial growth across Data, Voice and Mobile Money, in accordance to the mobile operator’s medium-term aspirations for profit growth and revenue increase.

Mandava added that the company’s results are a visible indication of the strength and reliability of the company’s strategy.

Last month Airtel introduced two new 4G Smartphones in Nigeria as part of its commitment to accelerating mobile Internet uptake as well as enriching the data experience of telecoms consumers across the country.
