Fox Sports Africa To Rebrand Channels And Online Site To ESPN
Fox Sports Africa has announced that as of 30 August, its African audience will access ESPN shows on TV and online with the official rebrand of Fox Sports Africa to ESPN.
The channels FOX Sports and FOX Sports 2 will be rebranded to ESPN and ESPN2 but will carry on showcasing all the leading leagues as usual, with some new additional content in the future.
Africa's sports fans will still enjoy Major League Baseball, Professional Fighters League, Championship football and Major League Soccer, as well as various European leagues such as Turkish Super Lig, the Belgian top flight and Eredivisie.
The ESPN channels will also provide live broadcasts of the WAFU Cup of Nations 2019, which will take place from 28 September to 13 October in Thies, Senegal.
Frank Rutten of ESPN Europe & Africa commented that rebranding to ESPN is a natural transition since The Walt Disney Company bought 21st Century Fox.
Christine Service, the Senior Vice President and Country Manager of The Walt Disney Company Africa said that Fox Sports Africa is excited to grow its broadcast offering under the ESPN banner; and that Disney looked forward to developing the channels in the upcoming months and years ahead.
