Ex CEO Of NCC Appointed As Chairman Of MTN Nigeria Board
MTN Nigeria has announced that it has appointed Ernest Ndukwe, the former CEO/Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) as a chairman-designate in a board reshuffle that saw the long-serving banker Dr Pascal Dozie, ousted from the position he had held for almost 20 years.
Ndukwe’s term as Chairman of MTN Nigeria’s Board of directors will begin on 2 September 2019.
MTN sent a letter to the Nigerian Stock Exchange informing the NSE and the investing public that following the expiration of their term the under listed Non-Executive Directors would be retiring from the Board as from 2 September 2019.”
The outgoing Directors are Dr Pascal Dozie, Chairman, Chief Victor Odili, Non-Executive Director, Col. Sani Bello (Rtd) Vice Chairman, Babatunde Folawiyo, Non-Executive Director, Mallam Ahmed Dasuki, Non-Executive Director Gbenga Oyebode, Non-Executive Director.
Acknowledging the contribution made by the outgoing group of Directors over the past 18 years, the CEO of MTN Nigeria, Ferdinand Moolman, gave thanks to Pascal Dozie and the outgoing Directors.
He said that the journey they had travelled together for 18 years had been incredible and that he couldn’t have asked for a more supportive and experienced group of advisors.
Speaking on behalf of the outgoing group of Directors, Dr Pascal Dozie said that having served as the Chairman of MTN Nigeria for 18 years, he achieved a long-held goal earlier this year, when MTN Nigeria was listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange, providing a chance for more Nigerians to become investors in the company.
Dozie said that he is proud of all that MTN Nigeria has achieved during his tenure and that on behalf of the outgoing Directors, he wanted to thank the Management of MTN Nigeria for their support over the years and also to welcome the incoming group of Directors.
