Google Rolls Out YouTube Membership Channels In South Africa
Google has begun rolling out channel memberships for YouTube in South Africa that will enable users to support channel creators by signing themselves up to donate a monthly fee of R39.99 ($2.83) to their favourite channels according to information provided by My Broadband.
Google started rolling out this feature in 2018 for $4.99 per month after it had been tested on YouTube's Gaming platform.
The Chief Product Officer at YouTube, Neal Mohan, said that with channel memberships, viewers would pay a monthly recurring fee to acquire new emojis, unique badges, member's only posts and access to exclusive custom perks that are offered by the creators.
At the end of May this year, Google added YouTube Gaming to the main YouTube service for the users' convenience.
YouTube channel memberships utilise the existing payment information that has been saved in your Google account.
