New Broadcast Deal Puts Canal Algérie On Arabsat-5C

The Algerian French-speaking public TV channel, Canal Algérie, which is owned by EPTV (Algerian Public Television) owns Terrestrial TV, A3 (available on BADR-6), Coran TV and Tamazight TV. Canal Algérie broadcasts its content 24/7 using different platforms all over the world.

Arabsat-5C at 20 degrees East was designed to serve the African market, aligning the specific technical requirements with the rapidly growing demand throughout the continent. Arabsat -5C has extensive coverage, equipped with a robust C-band beam which caters to 100 percent of African satellite TV households and can use only the minimum required dish size to receive all its channels.

Canal Algérie’s new broadcast plan is part of the commercial agreement between Globecast and Télédiffusion d’Algérie, Algeria’s public TV and radio broadcasting services operator.

The MD of Globecast in the Middle East, Giorgio Giacomini said that Globecast has a longstanding and thriving relationship with Arabsat. He added that Globecast is perfectly positioned to launch new channels and also expand the reach of already existing channels, providing affordable end-to-end services to execute those services.

The President and CEO of Arabsat, Khalid Balkheyour commented that the rollout of Canal Algérie on Arabsat-5C comes as a significant part of the satellite services provider’s core mission to connect various Arabic societies across the world. Balkheyour noted that Arabsat provides Arab, African and Islamic communities with a large selection of Free-To-Air TV channels in Africa.

He added that furthermore, the broadcasting deal between Canal Algérie and Arabsat-5C is a result of the continued successful Globecast and Arabsat partnership.
