“Adapt… to stay relevant” was the clarion call from participants at the recently concluded Industry Forum on OTT Content Streaming And VOD Services
The two-day event was presented by Broadcast Media Africa (BMA) in association with the Southern Africa Broadcasting Association (SABA) and took place on Tuesday 5th and Wednesday 6th February 2019 at the Radisson Blu (Gautrain) Hotel in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Supported by SES Video and Sentech as key sponsors, the forum’s submitted that Africa’s broadcast media industry must keep up with the changes - however disruptive - and be quick to adapt to implement new advancements, or simply become irrelevant with the risk extinction.
A cross-section of speakers and panellists examined practical themes, ranging from how producers can generate OTT content specifically for African audiences, to key strategies for servicing a Pan-African market.
Another key issue of focus was the need for mutually-beneficial partnerships and collaborations amongst industry stakeholders to capitalise on opportunities in the OTT content streaming and Video On Demand (VoD) market.
The forum conveners concluded that the Forum have been a great success because of the level of participation from senior executives from leading OTT and VoD platforms, broadcast media organisations and the converged media industry as a whole.
